ATTORNEY DESCRIPTIONEllen Ann Callahan is an experienced adoption attorney practicing in Maryland. She is a founding member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, a national organization of attorneys who practice, or have otherwise distinguished themselves, in the field of adoption law. Ms. Callahan represents adoptive parents, birth parents, adoptees and adoption agencies in independent, agency, foreign and domestic adoptions. She has been appointed by Maryland Circuit Courts to represent birth parents and children in contested adoption proceedings. She is also an adoptive parent. Ms. Callahan has taught "Legal Aspects of Adoption", a continuing education course at Montgomery College, Rockville, Maryland. She has also taught classes to lawyers and other adoption professionals for the Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers, Inc. (MICPEL). Ms. Callahan co-authored the "Adoption Guardianship, and Change of Name" chapter in the Practice Manual for Maryland Lawyers, produced by MICPEL. |
